The Waiheke Sea Scouts den or hall is known as “The Ship”. It’s a great venue for our groups to meet in and we have amazing views across the harbour and out towards the Hauraki Gulf.
About “The Ship”
- Scenic venue overlooking harbour and Hauraki Gulf
- Available for children’s parties, meetings, classes when not in use by Scout groups
- Limited facilities (public toilets, no wastewater, noise restrictions)
- Generally available weekends, some evenings, and during holidays
Booking Process
- Email inquiry with dates, guest numbers, and purpose groupleader@waihekeseascouts.org.nz
- Monthly committee review of applications (first-come basis)
- Possible agreement form and bond payment required
Facilities
- Kitchen with basic amenities (fridge, cooktop & oven, utensils for 10-20 people)
- Rainwater tank (boiling recommended)
- Public toilet access across grass
- Beach access (30 seconds away)
- Possible camping on adjacent grass area
- Limited street parking
Rules
- Treat the hall respectfully; pay for any damages
- Be mindful of noise, especially after 9pm
- No commercial activities without permission
- No smoking inside; dispose of butts properly
- Cooking only in kitchen or on BBQ; no fires/flames
- Clean all spills thoroughly
- Bring own rubbish bags and remove all waste
- Leave hall clean and secure
- Avoid high heels on wooden floor
