Scouts New Zealand runs an annual “mudslide day” and many scout groups around NZ run their own mudslide day.
This year, Waiheke Sea Scouts will be running a Slip’n’Slide waterslide @ Waiheke Scouts open day. This is primarily an open day for children aged between 5 – 8 years (Keas) and those aged between 8 – 11 years (Cubs) to encourage some more members to join up!

- WHY: We would like to encourage more 5 – 11 year old children to join our group.
- WHO: Open to all children: 5 – 11 (Keas and Cubs aged children)
- WHEN: Sat Feb 24th 2024 @ midday – 4pm come rain or shine…
- WHERE: @ ‘The Ship’ Scouts Den end of Shelly Beach Road, Ostend (NOTE VERY limited parking: please park considerately along the road, or as a suggestion, park at Shelly beach and walk over.)
- COST: $5 for donation entry to help our group. Sausages and drinks @ $5
We recommend that you bring a rash shirt, towel and togs!

If you are wondering what on earth mudslide day is, it’s exactly as the name suggests. Every year Scout Groups across the country set aside a day to go sliding down wet soapy hillsides into puddles. Why would we do such a thing one might ask? It’s a lot of fun! It’s also a great activity that the public can join in on so they can get a taste of just how awesome scouting is!

- This is being organised by Waiheke Sea Scouts (‘The Organisers’) as a community fundraiser and awareness / membership drive for Waiheke Sea Scouts. Non Profit – All money goes directly to the group;
- All people entering the site (‘users’) may only use the facilities at the discretion of The Organisers and shall – at all times – abide by the instructions of The Organisers to ‘play fair and play safe’.
- The Organisers reserve the right to cancel or change the event at any time and / or refuse entry to any user and / or ask any user to leave;
- While The Organisers will take all reasonable precautions to provide a safe and fun space, all users shall use the facilities at their own risk and must use their own judgement as to safe speed and style of sliding;
- All users aged 11 and under must be accompanied by a responsible parent or guardian 16+. NO DROP OFFS
- The Organisers shall endeavour to ensure everyone can enjoy the experience, and we may limit entry / the number of rides.
- Anyone not having fun will be questioned extensively!
