Waiheke Sea Scouts is looking for new Scouts Leaders to help our existing Leaders run the 11-14 year old (years 7-10) programme.
If you have a few spare hours each week to help us, we’d love to hear from you!
We are a voluntary organisation – everyone is a volunteer – it’s what keeps our movement going.
Have Fun and Feel Rewarded
Becoming a SCOUTS Leader is not difficult, and you can have a lot of fun and get a lot out of it.
We already have a sailing programme and some scout leaders who run that (thank you Marcel, Jan and Alex) – however, we also need non-sailing scout leaders to help run non-sailing scout activities.
You would be supported in your role of holding the space for each session that you are asked to run. Sessions would be divided between the sailing Leaders and the non sailing activities Leaders (generally 50/50 so around two sessions each per month).
Sessions run for 90 minutes for up to twenty 11-14 yr olds. Additional parent volunteers would usually be available to assist you.
Action-packed activities form the core of being a Scout, encouraging young people to make their own decisions and to explore the world around them…
Scouts are the third section of the Scouting movement after Keas and Cubs for boys and girls aged 11-14 years.
At Scouts, we do anything and everything – all the fun things you have always wanted to do. Whether it is outdoor based activities such as tramping, camping, biking, rafting or indoor based such as scout craft, photography or pioneering – what you do is your choice. There is a weekly session plan outline that you can follow if you wish and you can add your own style to it.
